According to the Ministry of Manpower, close to 16,000 Work Injury Compensation claims were awarded in 2019, with a total payout of $120 million for wage and lump sum compensation.

The Work Injury Compensation Act 2019 (WICA 2019) repealed the WICA and come into full force with effect from 1 April 2021. There are substantial legislative changes to the compulsory insurance coverage, compensation limits, medical expenses limit, reporting and claims processes.

This workshop is to enable you to be present and future-ready with the duties and responsibilities required of employers by WICA. Discussions include contentious issues over what is considered injury “arising out of and in the course of employment”, and therefore compensable under WICA.

• What if, the employee had another employer at the time of the accident
