At the 47th ASEAN Confederation of Employers (ACE) meeting, held in Jakarta on 11 May 2023, SNEF President Dr Robert Yap took over as ACE President for the term 2023-2025 from the Employers’ Association of Indonesia (APINDO) Chairman Mr Hariyadi B Sukamdani.
SNEF hope that the 10 employer and business membership organisations of ACE can better co-operate and represent employers on labour issues at regional and international labour fora to enhance labour market flexibility and foster industrial harmony.
The ASEAN Confederation of Employers (ACE) was established in 1978. ACE was established to support the fundamental objectives of ASEAN in its pursuits of effective measures for regional economic co-operation. The objectives of ACE are to optimise liaison, co-operation and representation in the fields of labour and social legislation, industrial relations and practices. ACE is an ASEAN-affiliated Civil Society Organization since 1980.
ACE also has a representative elected to the International Labour Organization Governing Body once every three years to represent the interests of ASEAN employers.
