Transforming Work Through Digitalisation: How Cora Environment Scaled Efficiently with PSG-JR

As businesses navigate a rapidly evolving landscape, digital transformation has become essential for building resilience and future readiness. Cora Environment (previously known as Sembwaste), a leading waste management company and a SNEF member, recognised this early and identified opportunities to strengthen its Business Intelligence (BI) and Operations functions, both of which relied heavily on manual processes that slowed decision-making and limited workforce capacity.

BI employees previously spent hours extracting and consolidating data for reporting, leaving limited time for deeper analysis. Similarly, Operations Executives were managing daily deployment tasks manually, creating inefficiencies and reducing responsiveness.

To address these challenges, Cora Environment embarked on a Job Redesign initiative with an approved consultant under the Productivity Solutions Grant for Job Redesign (PSG-JR). The goal: enhance productivity, uplift job value, and equip employees with the tools and skills needed for a digital future.

Through PSG-JR, the BI Executive role was redesigned to emphasise automation, data analytics, and insight generation. Routine reporting processes were digitalised, allowing the team to shift from manual compilation to higher-value analytical work. This improved data accuracy, timeliness, and strategic decision-making across the organisation.

The Operations Executive role also underwent transformation, by integrating digital deployment platforms and streamlining workflows. Daily task allocation and manpower planning became more seamless and data-driven. In this way, Cora Environment improved operational visibility and responsiveness.

The results were significant: Cora Environment achieved a 30% increase in overall efficiency, with employees spending far less time on repetitive tasks and more time on meaningful, value-added work. The uplift in morale and job satisfaction has encouraged the organisation to scale these improvements across teams.

“The PSG-JR initiative has allowed us to optimise our workforce and streamline processes, leading to improved productivity and greater operational efficiency.”

Looking Ahead: New Enterprise Workforce Transformation Package (EWTP)

As PSG-JR comes to an end, enterprises can look forward to the refreshed Enterprise Workforce Transformation Package (EWTP), launching this year to support workforce and job transformation with greater scale and simplicity. A key highlight is the Workforce Development Grant – Job Redesign, which will offer higher funding support for job redesign and broadened coverage to include tools and training that help embed transformation into everyday operations. This enhanced support framework is designed to help companies accelerate productivity gains, strengthen strategic capabilities, and reduce the time and cost of upskilling and redesigning work.

EWTP also streamlines support through a single application process and will include a redesigned SkillsFuture Enterprise Credit, making it easier for businesses to offset transformation costs. With significant funding commitment and improved accessibility, EWTP presents a compelling opportunity for enterprises to future-proof their workforce, scale sustainably, and drive long-term growth. More details will be announced in Q1 2026, and SNEF will continue to support members in navigating and maximising this new suite of workforce transformation support.
