Programme Introduction

The Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF) will be organising a SME HR Series on Internationalisation and Government Support Programmes on Tuesday, 23 April 2019.

SMEs could develop a strong Singaporean core in a manpower-lean economy through enhanced programmes under the Adapt & Grow Initiative. In addition to sharing on employment facilitation assistance for SMEs, Workforce Singapore (WSG) will brief on the various programmes such as Enhanced Career Support Programme, Career Trial and Jobsbank.

SNEF will introduce the P-Max Place-and-Train Programme under the Adapt and Grow Initiative on recruitment, training and retention of PMETs. This programme aims to facilitate the entry of PMETs into suitable SME* jobs. Upon successful completion of the programmes, companies will receive a one-time Assistance Grant of $5,000.

Following which, the International Trading Institute @ Singapore Management University (ITI@SMU) will share the International Trading PCP designed to give participants a first-hand, immersive experience of the international trading environment and the wholesale trading value chain. Stretched across one year, the three phased part-time programme provides an immersive and enriching experience, where classroom training is blended with e-learning component, and enhanced with seminars with industry experts, site visits to companies and project work.

As employers, recruitment to acquire experienced individuals are imperative to build the talent pool for business expansion regionally. The Singapore Business Federation (SBF) will share on Professional Career Programme (PCP) for Southeast Asia Ready Talents to assist mid-career professionals and unemployed PMETs – in career switches into sectors like wholesale trade and logistics.

Lastly, the SME Centre @ Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SME Centre @SICCI) will share on the understanding business culture and dynamics, typical challenges, key concerns when expanding into overseas market and how companies can overcome such challenges. Companies will also learn on evaluating an overseas market, strategies for market entries and government schemes that can assist them in overseas expansion and hiring.
