Programme Introduction
SYNOPSIS
According to the Ministry of Manpower, close to 16,000 Work Injury Compensation claims were awarded in 2019, with a total payout of $120 million for wage and lump sum compensation.
The Singapore Parliament passed the Work Injury Compensation Bill on 3 September 2019 that has amended the current Work Injury Compensation Act (WICA) in parts between 1 January 2020 and 1 April 2021. The legislative amendments took effect from 1 September 2020 while the insurer regulatory regime will take effect from 1 January 2021. In brief, there will be changes to the compulsory insurance coverage, compensation limits, medical expenses limit, reporting and claims processes

This workshop is to enable you to be present and future-ready with the duties and responsibilities required of employers by WICA. Discussions include contentious issues over what is considered injury “arising out of and in the course of employment”, and therefore compensable under WICA.
TARGET AUDIENCE
Managers / Executives in charge of workplace safety, health, incident reporting, insurance purchase and claims.
METHODOLOGY
Mix of lectures, discussions and sharing of practical examples.
TRAINER
Ms Ang Poh Inn is Director, Industrial and Workplace Relations Division, SNEF.
