Programme Introduction

The trust amongst the Government, Labour Movement and Employers has been a competitive advantage for Singapore as the tripartite partners have been working together successfully to transform the economy, in overcoming economic crises and in maintaining industrial harmony. Similarly, if there is trust between management and employees, it would help them collaborate more effectively, operate more efficiently and achieve sustainable inclusive growth.

This 2-day MasterClass aims to increase workplace productivity by deepening trust between management and employees, as well as to revolutionise our definition/perspective of trust and engagement between management and employees.

The three main components of trust include:

Trust as a Key Driver of Productivity
In a Watson Wyatt 2002 study, high-trust organizations outperformed low-trust organizations in total return to shareholders by 286 percent. High-trust organizations also consistently deliver more value and profits by increasing innovation, better execution and higher levels of productivity. Participants will focus on developing high trust environments within their organisation.

Trust as a Leadership Skill
Trust can be measured. Through the People and Performance Questionnaire, participants will be able to diagnose current trust levels and strategise 5 key ways to deepen trust.

Trust as a Cost Control Mechanism
Gallup’s research puts a price tag of $250 billion – $300 billion a year on the cost of disengagement. The latest 2017 Trends in Global Employee Engagement report by Aon Hewitt revealed that employees in Singapore are one of the least engaged in APAC. Participants will learn 3 ways to bring down such costs.

Course Outline
1.    Assessing organisational level of trust through research-driven tools, such as the iOpener People and Performance Questionnaire (iPPQ)
2.    Analysing data to identify areas of improvements at team and organisational levels
3.    Ensuring people strategies are aligned with organisational strategies
4.    Re-alignment of HR processes to identify areas of improvements
5.    Guide management and leaders in implementing the refreshed and re-aligned HR processes
6.    Ensuring knowledge transfer within organisation, in order for HR Leaders and Managers to be self-sustaining

Mix of lectures, case studies, role plays, group and video-based discussions. As learning is more experiential in nature, course participants will be expected to take a closer look at measuring and increasing their trust levels. Activities would also include Kolb’s experiential learning cycle.

About the Trainer
Dr Charles Png holds a Doctorate in Business Administration (University of South Australia), MBA (Adelaide University), Bachelor of Arts (Honours) (National University of Singapore) and Post-Graduate Diploma in Education. He is a certified Project Management Institute – Agile Certified Practitioner and a certified Organisational Development facilitator. Dr Png also holds certifications in Leadership Best Practices from Harvard Business School as well as in Negotiations from MIT Sloan Business School. He is an Adjunct Adult Educator with the Institute for Adult Learning, Training Vision Institute and NTUC LearningHub.

With more than 20 years of leadership experience in the education and media industries, Dr Png has authored leadership books such as, ‘50 Math and Science Games for Leadership’, ‘How Good Leadership Makes Good Lives’ and many more.
