Programme Introduction

The Future of Work is upon us. Technological advances such as Artificial Intelligence and Robotic Process Automation will undoubtedly create new jobs, but those who lose their jobs in this transition may be the least equipped to seize the new opportunities. Today’s skills will not match the jobs of tomorrow and newly acquired skills may quickly become obsolete. Mr. Stephen Yee, Assistant Executive Director of SNEF and Asia Member of the Future of Work with International Organization of Employers (IOE, Geneva) shares with us key insights from the centennial report of ILO Future of Work. How can it be translated to Singapore context and what lies ahead for HR and Organisations in Singapore?

SNEF will share more about a new government initiative, SkillsFuture for Enterprises which seeks to provide end-to-end support for organisations to improve their human capital capabilities. This initiative aims to assist organisations to enhance their Human Capital Development (HCD) capabilities, through identifying eligible grants and programmes that your organisation can tap on to address the Human Capital Development gaps and providing support options that can help organisations to build up Human Capital capabilities via a pre-approved grant of 70% for Human Capital related projects.

Under the WSG’s Adapt and Grow Initiative, you will hear how the various support schemes can better recruit, train and retain your PMETs. The P-Max Place-and-Train Programme aims to facilitate the entry of PMETs into suitable SME jobs. Upon completion of the programme, companies will receive a one-time Assistance Grant of $5,000. Companies applying under the P-Max track for Singapore Citizens PMETs aged ≥ 50 would be entitled to an additional $5,000 assistance grant capped at $10,000 per company. The Enhanced Career Support Programme (CSP) encourages employers to tap on wealth of experience that mature PMETs can bring to the workplace. PMETs that are unemployed for six months or more, in mid-level jobs that pay $3,600 will be given wage support for up to 18 months. Lastly, the Professional Conversion Programme (PCP) which aims to help jobseekers reskill and acquire necessary knowledge and competencies to take on new jobs. Eligible companies will receive training grants and salary support of up to $18,000.
