👥|✴️ Bite-sized Solutioning Workshop: Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA) – Implement and Assess Requests Properly
The Tripartite Guidelines on Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA) Requests has come into effect on 1 December 2024. The Guidelines sets out how employees should request for FWAs and use them responsibly, and how employers and supervisors should handle FWA requests, while acknowledging that employers continue to have the prerogative to decide on work arrangements for business/operations sustainability. Employers would therefore need to assess each FWA request with careful consideration on its implications especially on manpower resources, cost and productivity. To successfully implement FWAs, while ensuring a proper process in assessing FWA requests, employers would also need to know the types of FWAs and any legal obligations to note when implementing them. It is important to debunk that FWAs only equate to work from home or hybrid working. There are more than ten types of FWAs which could be implemented to meet the different worklife needs of the employees. At the same time, open communication between employers and employees to find workable and sustainable FWAs would be key to achieve win-win outcomes. To ensure a proper process in assessing FWAs requests, we encouraged employers to attend this workshop that is designed to equip participants with the necessary knowledge and skills and to be prepared for the Tripartite Guidelines on FWA Requests in 2025.
